Nitrogen Determination in Nitrate Containing Fertilizers

Nitrogen determination is one of the key analyses performed in quality control. The nitrate contained in the samples is converted with salicylic acid to nitro salicylic acid and then with sodium thiosulphate to amino salicylic acid. After that the samples undergo digestion, distillation and titration as described in the standard Kjeldahl method.
