Endpoint of freeze drying by pressure difference test
The pressure difference test on Lyovapor™ is used to determine the end of the primary drying phase. A range of water-solvent mixtures is analyzed to identify conditions enabling reliable implementation for this test.
As the pressure difference test employing two pressure gauges has proven to be effective for shelf applications, this study aims to evaluate this technique to determine the end of the primary drying phase in manifold application. It investigates the efficacy in determining drying endpoints and the advantages over traditional methods. A range of water-solvent mixtures is analyzed to identify conditions enabling reliable implementation. The precisely determined drying time can increase the reproducibility of drying result and ensure a dry product.

Einsatz organischer Lösungsmittel in Laborgefriertrocknern
Freeze-dryers were initially intended to be used with water as a solvent. With new applications, freeze-drying is consequently being used more and more in combination with organic solvents instead of water. Organic solvents and inorganic acids and bases are often used in research and development prior to lyophilisation of the sample. The behavior of these new types of samples during freeze-drying must therefore be considered prior to the process.
