PFCs are fluorocarbons used in many commercial and domestic applications to make items stain-, oil- and water- resistant. They are very stable chemicals and accumulate in the environment. Due to health concerns they are monitored globally. Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) was recently banned by the Stockholm Convention. This application note describes the extraction of PFCs from soil and sewage sludge samples using the SpeedExtractor E-916.
