Mini Spray Dryer B-290

Spray Drying of Fluorouracil

Fluorouracil (5-FU) is a widely used chemotherapy drug for the treatment of various cancers. The drug has been studied for its spray drying characteristics to improve its solubility and bioavailability, and enhance its therapeutic efficacy. Spray drying of 5-FU involves atomization of a solution or suspension of the drug in a carrier material, followed by evaporation of the solvent, and collection of the dried powder. This process can improve the stability of the drug and enable its formulation into various dosage forms, including tablets, capsules, and injectable formulations. Spray-dried 5-FU has also been studied for its use in transdermal drug delivery, where the powder is formulated into a topical cream or patch for the treatment of skin cancers. Overall, spray drying of 5-FU is a promising approach for the formulation of dry powder dosage forms of the drug, with potential applications in various therapeutic areas, including oncology and dermatology.
