Spray Drying of Herbal extract
Spray drying is a widely used technique in the pharmaceutical and food industries to convert liquids into powders. The process involves the atomization of a liquid into droplets, which are then dried by passing them through hot air. The resulting powder can be stored for a longer time and has improved solubility compared to the original liquid.
In the herbal extract industry, spray drying is used to convert liquid extracts into powder form. This allows for easy storage and transportation, while also preserving the active compounds in the extract. Spray drying of herbal extracts is applied in different areas such as nutraceuticals, food and beverage, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
The use of spray drying in the herbal extract industry has some advantages, such as the possibility of processing temperature-sensitive compounds and the ability to customize the final product's physical properties. However, the process may also have some challenges, such as the potential loss of some active compounds due to the high-temperature exposure during drying.
Overall, spray drying is an important technique for the herbal extract industry, as it offers a practical and efficient method of converting liquid extracts into powders, while preserving the bioactive compounds.
